i had a lady tell me i was ugly because of my hair(its half shaved)

that i was ugly because of my plugs

i was ugly because my hair was dyed

i was ugly because i wasn’t wearing make up

i was ugly because my nails were not done

that i look like a boy

and that ladies should have long flowing hair, wear make up and dress up everyday.

this made me realize how society has put a definition on beauty into everyones minds.

beauty to me; can not be defind by one person; but rather by each and every person. beauty to me is a smile. heart. personality; not how you look physically; but rather how you potray yourself. i know everyone says it like oh eveeryone is beautiful; or beauty is on the inside yada yada yada. Well this is partially true. not everyone is beautiful. the moment your attitude is hateful every ounce of your beauty is stripped from you; the moment you decide you will wear a permanent frown; that is when beauty is stripped from you.

i realize i am not the most attractive girl out there but i know i am not hideous. but what makes me beautiful is that i smile when i can. i laugh when i can(even if i snort) laughter is beautiful. joy is beautiful.

so the next time a lady tells me how i look to her i will tell her this,

when was the last time you looked in the mirror and saw someone beautiful?
